MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT - Beaconsfield

Main Purpose of Job:

Nicholas King Homes is looking for a Management Accountant, who will be responsible for ensuring strong accounting and reporting throughout Nicholas King Homes, the analysis, and consolidation of financial data to assist the Finance Director, as well as the effective management of the Company’s finances, providing strategic information and advice to the board and our joint venture partners.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director this is a process driven role, being responsible for tasks such as preparing financial statements, budget reports, updating profit and cashflow forecasts, preliminary and site cost analysis reports, monthly management accounts and reporting as well as making recommendations for spending or cost cuts.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial analysis, and reporting. Attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure are essential for success in this role. Additionally, it would be advantageous for the successful candidate to have some understanding of the construction industry.

General Responsibilities:

Group Profit and Cashflow Forecasts

Maintenance of profit and cashflow forecasts is the number one priority in this role. The cashflow must be updated at least monthly following any significant changes as soon as they are identified, such as changes to, site completion dates, funding arrangements.

Management Accounts and Reporting

Preparing month-end reports for management and our joint venture partners, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Normal reporting timescales are within 10 working days of year end.

Statutory Accounts

Liaising with external tax accountants for tax preparation and providing external auditors with the necessary documentation and support. Assisting the FD in the preparation of the statutory accounts and schedules for corporation tax returns, ensuring that an organisation meets the necessary tax, permit and licencing requirements. Ensuring compliance with government regulations.

Bank Funding

Assist in submissions for bank funding proposal for new sites with the Finance Director.On going monthly monitoring of site funding and inspections with bank appointed monitoring surveyors; regular site visits to prepare bank valuation drawdowns for existing sites.

Budgets

Preparing annual group budgets and analysing budgets including tracking, reporting, and analysing budget variances (as part of Management Accounts preparation).

Key Requirements:

2+ years in a professional accounting or auditing role and experience in a management accounting position.

Well organised and flexible, being able to adapt to and willing to take on additional or alternative tasks as required. It is therefore essential that you are organised with effective time-management and communication.

Experience of overseeing a company’s financial control and reporting activities.

Knowledge of change best practices and experience in working with relevant financial and accounting software packages.

A recognised professional qualification from a professional institution, such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), is preferred.

Strong analytical skills along with knowledge of general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, accounting standards and compliance regulations are essential.

Acting as the link between finance and other disciplines within the Group, you will also need to possess good interpersonal skills and have a good understanding of business and financial issues.

Computer literate and confident with Excel modelling for forecasting purposes and knowledge of COINS would be preferred.
