Our Environmental Policy
Our business is about creating new homes and developments that our customers can enjoy for many years. We aim to create long term value by creating sustainable places where people want to live.
Climate change is one of the planet’s biggest challenges, with more extreme weather patterns creating issues including water shortage, flooding and overheating. The climate changes affect us all, therefore through our business, our supply chain and the homes we build, we aim to try and reduce the environmental impact by:
- Reducing carbon emissions by our own teams and via our supply chains
- Review and select green tariffs for energy supplies
- Manage and monitor our waste, waste materials and water
- Reduce carbon emissions by building to and beyond Part L of the building regulations
- Selecting energy efficient appliances
- Using photo voltaic panels where appropriate
- Creating habitats for wildlife
- Providing facilities for car charging
- Providing smart meters for our customers to monitor their own energy usage
- Keeping up to date with emerging technology and working practices
Meet the Directors
Nicholas King
Executive ChairmanWith 14 years previous experience as a Chartered Accountant and Group Chief Executive of Charles Church, Nicholas established Nicholas King Homes in 1991. The company has gone from strength to strength directly providing work for approximately 200 people. As the Executive Chairman, Nicholas takes an active role in all aspects of the business.
Nick Bilsand
Chief Executive OfficerNick Bilsland qualified as a chartered accountant in 1991 and worked in the City until he made the move into the residential property sector in 1999 working for Berkeley Group and Country & Metropolitan Homes. Nick joined Nicholas King Homes in August 2004 as Finance Director and was made Deputy Chief Executive in December 2018 and Chief Executive Officer in June 2024. In his spare time Nick is a keen, although admittedly, not very competent golfer! He does enjoy an occasional run out for Maidenhead Hockey Club.
Susan Jacquest
Sales & Marketing DirectorSusan has been in her position on the board as Sales & Marketing Director since 2001. For almost 30 years she has worked in the industry working for the likes of Charles Church, Berkeley Group and Heron Homes covering a wide variety of areas in the UK before settling in the South East of England at Nicholas King Homes. At the weekend you’ll find Susan getting competitive on the golfing range. She’s also an avid Chelsea supporter too!
Kelly Speller
Technical and Construction DirectorKelly Speller is RICS qualified and spent 8 years with Taylor Woodrow and Taywood Homes. He then joined Berkeley Homes as Project Surveyor. Kelly joined Nicholas King Homes in 1998 as a Senior Surveyor and became Commercial Technical & Construction Director responsible for all construction, technical and commercial activities in December 2000. When he’s not on a site you’ll find him cheering on QPR (his favourite football team!) or practicing his swing on the driving range!
Keith Ireland
Group Land Director
With over 30 years’ experience in the industry and gaining a vast amount of knowledge working for the likes of Charles Church, Thirlstone Homes as well as working for himself for 16 years, we’re delighted Keith joined Nicholas King Homes in September 2019. In his spare time Keith enjoys action packed weekends, running, mountain biking and snowboarding as well as looking after his 3 daughters.
Will Varrall
Strategic Land Director
Graduating from Oxford Brookes in 2000 with a BSc Hons in Civil Engineering, Will started his career as Land Manager for Charles Church in 2001. He moved to Nicholas King Homes in 2004 as Land Manager, progressing to Associate Land Director in 2014. Now Strategic Land Director, Will loves to spend his spare time with his family on long walks in the countryside or getting his adrenaline fix flying down mountains on his skis!
